Release Date: June 27 2011
Label: Walnut Tree Records
Rating: 9/10

With its upbeat and uplifting songs, Cuba Cuba’s debut full-length ‘Where Else Is Safe But The Road?’ proves to be the perfect soundtrack for the summer.

Produced by Straight Lines’ Todd Campbell, the sprightly record has a splendidly sweet sound and sees the Cardiff quintet flirt with the pop and indie-rock genres.

Focusing on life and its often unpredictable adventures, the conceptual album features eleven tracks that filter from fact to fiction.

‘Building Blocks’ is an inviting and exciting opener, which kick-starts the musical journey and is unsurprisingly followed by an assortment of memorable tunes including: danceable lead single ‘Home Is The Fire’ and atmospheric ‘Away Part 2’, which boasts guest vocals from Tiger Please frontman Leon Stanford.

Even if the summer season fails to bring us the sunshine we all hope for, this superb release will inevitably keep spirits high whatever the weather.
