Colours Of One – Apparitions
Release Date: September 10 2012
Rating: 9/10
‘Apparitions’ is a handful of superbly energetic alternative rock tunes that you’ll have on repeat for some time.
Recorded at Sonic One Studios, Llanelli and mastered by Jon Astley (Led Zeppelin, Stereophonics, The Who) this is far and away Colours Of One’s best collection of songs to date.
Evident is a phenomenal progression from earlier material. Polished guitar riffs, soaring melodies and a steady percussion section are prominent, all of which befit a band making waves on a national rather than regional scale.
From the atmospheric 20-second intro to opener ‘Dust & Chalk’ before the guitars kick in, to Mike Simmonds’ impressive vocal range on the magnificent ‘Bloom’, this is an EP that warrants a large audience and countless playbacks.
We only hope that this piece of work gets the sheer recognition it so rightly deserves. Simply stunning.
