Newport music venue Le Pub has been put up for sale, it has been announced today.
Renowned for its intimate live setting, the two-storey venue is the second in Newport to have been put on the market, following the closure and sale of the iconic TJ’s.
With no obligation to uphold its live music heritage, the future of the building remains to be seen.
The unwanted news has certainly had an impact on locals, with many South Wales bands taking to Twitter. Save Your Breath were amongst those to express their concern: “#savelepub a place that means the world to us. they have supported us insane amounts.”
A benefit show to save the venue has been scheduled for Friday July 6, with all proceeds given to the ‘#savelepub’ fund. For more information please visit the official event page.
